Sausha and Vince – A Love Story

On Sunday I had the pleasure of sharing a very special engagement session with Sausha and Vince. There is something so special and contagious about love and even moreso about young people willing to make the comittment to share life’s joys and challenges in the context of covenant relationship. It’s even more amazing when you’ve had the opportunity watch one grow to maturity. I’ve had that opportunity with my neice Sausha! I am so very proud of the woman you’ve become and I’m so grateful Vince found you. Congratulations on your engagement, I wish for you both many, many years of joy! Enjoy your sneak peek.

Welcome to Edward’s Seussland!

The very first time I went to Island of Adventure in Orlando Florida, I was awakened to the true concept of a “theme” park. I distinctly recall being completely enamored with the colorful larger than life sights sharpened by complimentary scores fully engaging every sense. It was perfect choreography. I felt completely immersed in every sense of the word, child-like skipping along a path in Candy Land (my favorite and most pleasant early childhood board game memory)!

Then I happened upon Seussland and my joy was catapulted to unparalled heights. I think I was more overwhelmed with exhilaration than the children that were with me. I was amazed at the vibrant attention to colorful detail and everything about that place made me giddy with excitement. Well, this birthday party was much like that first adventure, magical in every sense of the word. As I traveled from floor to floor in this very familiar place, I had no idea what was awaiting me upon arrival to the third floor.

As I rounded the corner, I took note of a table filled with photographs chronicling EJ’s life in 2 month intervals from birth through 1 year. Although this caught my attention, the two colorful balloon pillars boasting E and J that adorned the entry captivated me luring me closer for more. As I entered the room, a rainbow of color greeted me but that was only the beginning. My breath was literally taken away by the enchanting beauty of this transformed space.

EJ’s talented mom, Melonie had creatively prepared a Dr. Seuss Wonderland, certain to wow every guest! Indulge me as I describe the experience in Seuss like terms…There were balloons, bows, candy, cakes, cupcakes and cake pops galore – Gumballs and popcorn, bubbles, books, games and more! Facepainting, prizes, delectable cuisine and everything Seuss-like, simply pristine. Enjoy a smile as I share a few of the details, Melonie you ROCK!!!! …and lest I forget – Happy first birthday EJ – you know you are one loved and celebrated little man!!!

What is a Birth Story?

I am an archivist. I spend my days and nights noticing, archiving and reflecting upon history. In my eyes, there are so many noteworthy occasions that add detail and colour to the canvas of our lives. And these aren’t always the grand experiences, although they certainly shape our lives with bold strokes and clear definition! If in fact the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, the everyday moments, routines and traditions are equally valuable.

So if you’re expecting a child, consider documenting your pregnancy and delivery in a special and intentional way. Birth story photography is one additional way to share the beauty of birth, those tender first emotions present upon first glances and the magical moments that follow. Consider this tasteful, artistic option to tell one of the most meaningful stories of life.

On November 5, 2011 we had the honor of welcoming Alexander Desiro into the world. After several hours of labor, he was greeted by a host of family, all of whom were anxiously awaiting his arrival. His mother encroached upon the threshold of new life with incredible grace, strength and poise. She was focused and peacefully present, empowered for the task. In just a few pushes she delivered an alert, healthy and beautiful 9lb. 13oz baby boy. Go Mommy! Welcome Good Mother you are worthy to the task and thank you for allowing me to share your story. ~Namaste’
